Credit Unions of Wales Awards – Payroll Partner (Private)
The Payroll Partner (Private) category in the Credit Unions of Wales Awards recognises those employers who are committed to the payroll partnership scheme.
This allows the workforce to access a host of financial services including payroll saving and workplace loan schemes.
The award is presented the payroll partner in the private sector that recognises the importance of the financial wellbeing of its workforce by encouraging them to become credit union members.
The nominations for this award are:
Thorncliffe Building Supplies
Thorncliffe Building Supplies in Dyserth have been nominated for a Credit Unions of Wales Award for promoting the many financial services offered by Cambrian Credit Union to their employees.
Nominated under the Payroll Partner (Private) category, they currently have 16 employees signed up to the payroll savings scheme, as well as eight payroll loans. They are always happy to promote the scheme and say it works well for their employees.
They regularly make use of advertising within staff wage envelopes to encourage more members and say feedback from those already participating is very positive.
As a private company they are one of our most successful partners of Cambrian Credit Union and nothing is ever too much trouble for them to help spread the word.
Legal & General
Cardiff-based offices of Legal & General have been nominated for a Credit Unions of Wales 2018 Award for their longstanding and pro-active role in promoting payroll schemes to other employers.
Nominated in the Payroll Partner (Private) category by Cardiff & Vale Credit Union, Legal and General entered into the partnership in 2016.
They use a range of communications to promote awareness of the scheme, including emails and leaflets to staff and hosting monthly drop-in days for to be cased at their offices.
Legal and General staff have a combined £4,900 in savings with Cardiff & Vale Credit Union, and since the scheme was introduced, £29,360 in affordable loans have been issued to staff. The scheme is part of a wider package to staff to promote wellbeing.
They have also continued to play a pro-active part in encouraging other employers to demonstrate corporate responsibility by adopting a payroll scheme.
We Fight Any Claim
We Fight Any Claim approached us after she attended an event run by Cardiff and Vale Credit Union promoting payroll saving to employers. She immediately realised the benefits this could have to We Fight Any Claim’s mostly millennial workforce, and was introduced to Gateway as the local Credit Union to their office in Cwmbran.
After a couple of planning meetings we launched the Payroll partnership in May 2018 in time for the June payroll. Thanks to the enthusiasm and hard work of Rhian and her staff and the WFAC communications team we signed up more than 20 members in the first week, and had to return with more membership packs. Several members of staff have also applied for loans, for cars, holidays or to reorganise their finances.
Three months into the partnership we have regular promotions planned and staff are reminded to save. We expect to be working together with WFAC as an employer and in the community.
Although a new partnership, we have nominated We Fight Any Claim as the most successful launch we have ever had with a new payroll partner.
We Fight Any Claim
We Fight Any Claim has been nominated by Gateway Credit Union for a prestigious Credit Unions of Wales Award in the Payroll Partner (Private) category.
The mostly millennial workforce was introduced to Gateway attheir office in Cwmbran.
The payroll partnership in May 2018 and thanks to the enthusiasm and hard work of Rhian Head and her staff more than 20 members signed up in the first week.
Several members of staff have also applied for loans, for cars, holidays or to re-organise their finances.
Three months into the partnership at Gateway Credit Union has regular promotions planned and staff are reminded to save.
Celtic Manor Resort
Celtic Manor Resort in Newport is a finalist in the Payroll Partner (Private Company) category of the Credit Unions of Wales Award 2018.
Celtic Manor is very eager to promote the financial services offered by Newport Credit Union within their organisation.
They are always willing for credit union staff to come to their premises and hold meetings with their employees, discussing the benefits of saving direct from their salary.
A regular information point can be found at the Celtic Manor, which is assisted with banners, leaflets and membership packs to promote the variety of credit union services.
The payroll department offer great communication with the credit union and are able to administer member account requests with ease.
JoJo Maman Bebe
Newport-based JoJo Maman Babe has been nominated for a prestigious Credit Unions of Wales Payroll Partner (Private) Award.
The maternity wear and baby clothing retailer was nominated by their partners Smart Money Cymru Credit Union for offering a monthly payroll deduction scheme to the workforce.
Their onsite credit union ambassador strongly believes in promoting financial wellness due to her personal situation with money a few years back.
Smart Money Cymru is promoted by a i-monthly attendance, information Included in induction across the UK, notice board and intranet advertising.
Security fencing business Procter Brothers is in line for a Credit Unions of Wales Payroll Partner (Private) Award following a nomination by their payroll partners at Smart Money Cymru.
The Bedwas branch of the UK-wide firm operate an Invisible Saver payroll scheme every week with monthly payroll deductions.
They strongly believe in promoting financial wellness and fully understand the importance of financial security for their employees.
The financial services offered by Smart Money Cymru are promoted through attending the company, having information available in induction packs, notice boards and advertising on the intranet and in a quarterly magazine.
Procter Brothers acknowledge that financial sustainability for employees is key to reduced sickness/absence and has encouraged its other sites to partner their local credit union.
